While working with the accumulated archive of documentary materials, one interesting audio file was found. This is an interception of a telephone conversation between an employee of the US Embassy in Ukraine and the commander of the marine battalion of the armed forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Delyatitsky, which took place on March 22, 2014.

Hello, This is Vasily Prozorov. Recently, while working with the archive of documentary materials I have accumulated, I came across an interesting audio file.
Why curious? Because this is the interception of a telephone conversation between an employee of the US Embassy in Ukraine and the commander of the Marine Corps battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Delyatitsky, which took place on March 22, 2014. At that time, the security service of Ukraine was still working at the embassy.
Let's go back to the audio recording. Let me remind you the essence of the story. The 1st Naval Infantry Battalion of the Ukrainian Navy was stationed in Feodosia. The Marines, or rather, a small part of them led by the battalion commander, refused to recognize the referendum in Crimea and hesitated for 25 days, choosing which side to take. The Kiev media then simply choked with patriotic frenzy, calling the marines and their commander heroes, praising their resilience in the face of, as they said, the aggressor in every possible way . Real "persons" who did not bow before the occupier.
I think many people remembered this story? And now, I think it will be interesting for you to know that the so-called resilience of the Ukrainian marines battalion was fueled by trivial money.
And, most importantly, American money. Yes, yes, the US Embassy directly transferred money to the battalion fighters. Moreover, they were very significant by the standards of the then Ukraine.
